Keene Counsel & Consultation

Welcome to Keene Counsel & Consultation
Nervous System Informed Mental Health & Training
through a lens of pragmatic social justice
While my private practice remains a vital part of my professional identity, I am currently broadening the scope of my work beyond the therapy room to focus on training the next generation of clinicians and researching more inclusive, disability-informed frameworks for our field.
I am currently available for:
-
Clinical Supervision: Supporting associates on their path toward licensure and licensed professionals developing care for chronically ill clients.
-
Professional Consultation: Assisting clinicians and organizations in deepening their work with trauma informed and responsive practice, substance use and co-occurring disorders, neurodivergence and chronic illness.
-
Organizational Training: Custom built, research and discourse backed, clinical trainings.
Counselor (Educator) - Researcher - Human
Hi there! I’m Hosia Keene, my work is dedicated to evolving the counseling landscape, including invisible identities, and developing pragmatic, inclusive frameworks for complex care.
I'm a Portland native with several years of Seattle living and a little LA thrown in for good measure. I am a licensed mental health and certified substance use counselor in all West Coast states, and an approved clinical supervisor in Oregon, and Washington as well as a National Certified Counselor. I completed my Masters at Lewis & Clark Graduate School where I currently teach, supervise, and research. My holistic approach is further informed by my background as a yoga educator, where I focus on curiosity for somatic literacy and regulation.
I continue to enjoy over a decade of work in community mental health and nonprofit co-occurring treatment and leadership where I specialize in the clinical training, integrated programs, and the development of systemic advocacy initiatives.
My clinical resonance with chronic and invisible illness was sparked after I was diagnosed with MS in 2019 and hEDS, MCAS, Dysautonomia, and accompanying disorder stars across the chronic constellation in the following years. I use my experience in practice at times and will share with you when it's useful.
When I am not in the classroom, clinic, or researching, I am often exploring the Pacific Northwest, engaging with the local music scene, or experimenting with anti-inflammatory and low-histamine culinary experiments.
